Fun activities are a great way for kids to learn how to reuse and recycle and the environmental benefits that follow. Kids have a powerful influence over the recycling habits of a household. Educating them early is likely to have an impact on the entire household. In March 2012, the PTA member joined forces with the teachers of each class to create beautiful designs on reusable canvas bags for shopping, books, etc. Each class chose a 'nature' theme for their bags and set about creating their masterpieces.

The completed bags, proudly displaying the design, child's name and the Ashcroft School logo, were hung on lines between the playground trees for everyone to see. In order to raise funds for the school parents were invited to purchase their child’s bag. The children have been seen using ecologically friendly bags with pride all over town.
