Before the midterm break, almost 40 children tried out to be a House Captain from Grade 2 – 6. The children prepared a short speech outlining the qualities they possess which would make them a good team captain (with real-life examples of them showing that skill) and designed a new logo for their house.
The applicants presented to the children of their own house and we had a silent vote to decide on the winners! We now have 4 children per house who are the team captains for Taino, Arawaks and Caribs; two younger children and two older children. During today’s assembly, we announced the winners for each house and congratulated all who tried out!
This small group of 12 children will now work with Miss MacKenzie to become student leaders and develop their leadership skills. They will lead next week’s assembly to explain how house points will work moving forward and will have their first meeting to create an action plan of what they would like to achieve in their new role! It’s very exciting and we will keep you all posted!
