In the lead up to the busy festive season it is good to get everyone together and remember that we all have a lot to be thankful for.
Today we took that time and celebrated 'Thanksgiving in Turks and Caicos' surrounded by friends, teachers and many families of the International School.
Our PTA kindly provided an excellent traditional Thanksgiving turkey lunch for the entire school in order to celebrate the collective Thanksgiving holiday in Turks and Caicos Islands, America and Canada.
The children prepared colourful and creative table covers and plate markers with inspirational ‘thanksgiving’ quotes. The Junior and Senior Kindergarten class made beautiful turkey hats and the preschool class were pilgrims with hat and collars!
The delicious menu included roast turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy and corn. The children were served lunch by many parent volunteers.
We also gratefully received an amazing array of delicious puddings such as sweet potato pie, key lime pie, pumpkin, chocolate gateau, oatcakes, apple pie, cookies, cupcakes and choc chip cookies.
The lunch was enjoyed by all students and teachers and everyone went back to work feeling very full up.
Our preschool class enjoyed turkey sandwiches and cute cookies! Such a special touch.
Thanks to everyone who made the lunch very special.

We hope you have a very happy thanksgiving Turks and Caicos!
What is the history of Thanksgiving?
Thanksgiving Day can be traced back to the 1621 celebration at the Plymouth Plantation, where the religious refugees from England known popularly as the Pilgrims invited the local Native Americans to a harvest feast after a particularly successful growing season.
Three Thanksgiving Days!
Canadians mark Thanksgiving, too, in fact it was the first country to do so. Canada celebrates a separate Thanksgiving on the second Monday in October.
It was first celebrated by the arctic explorer Martin Frobisher in 1578 – more than 40 years before the Pilgrim fathers arrived in the New World.
This year we celebrate the National Day of Thanksgiving in Turks and Caicos on the 25th November and enjoy another Thanksgiving lunch or dinner with our loved ones!
