Competing in the Fortis TCI National Science Fair
Fortis TCI National Science Fair - Projects
Anyone visiting our project stand would have been greeted by three very enthusiastic scholars of science!
In fact visitors were impressed by the presentation of the project, but more notably was the way in which these students could explain their preparation, methodology and results.
The three students have also written to the current Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands asking him to look into the problem of plastic bans and the proposed ban.
The students spent a full day at the Gus Lightbourne Centre talking to the judges, public and media about their project.
Our student showed a great deal of maturity when dealing with questions and crowds!
Our students knew the importance of having an in depth knowledge of the science behind the project to be able to answer the questions from the judges and viewing adults.
Our children and the visitors were also able to get some great ideas from the other exhibitors for the upcoming in-house Science Fair 2017 at the International School.
- The Quiz
We are extremely proud and pleased with the efforts of Jiya Tyagi and Tom Phillips during the Science Fair Quiz.
Our brave and hard working duo competed against 19 schools and narrowly missed the finals by one point. Overall the team came in 6th which was a tremendous achievement. They worked incredibly hard in the weeks before the competition to study a range of science topics.
The Prize Giving at the Science Fair ended with speeches and a prize giving ceremony. Our three contestants received certificates and a backpack of goodies.
There was a great sense of nervous excitement as the winners were announced. Whilst we did not place in the project round, we gained enormously in experience and had a lot of fun.
