On Thursday 23rd March 2017, Grade 3 went on an exciting trip to North and Middle Caicos to learn more about the Turks and Caicos Islands.
After catching the ferry across from Providenciales, we made our way to Wade Green’s Plantation.
Here we learnt what life was like for the slaves who worked on the plantation picking cotton and growing sugar canes.
Then we made our way to Middle Caicos where we stopped off at the Bar Conch Caves.
We loved exploring the caves and watching the bats fly over our heads!
After the caves, we went to Middle Caicos Coop where we took part in a straw workshop, making our own bookmarks.
It made us appreciate how hard these ladies work to make the beautiful straw hats, bags and baskets they sell!
Next it was time to head down to Mudjin Harbour.
We had great fun playing in the waves and running along the beach!
We didn’t want to leave!
To end our trip we stopped off at Flamingo Pond and saw flocks of flamingos in the distance.
We had an amazing time in North and Middle Caicos and can’t wait to go back!
