Grade 4 takes on the Roman Empire

Marching onwards!

Our school year began with a delayed start due to Hurricanes Irma and Maria but that was not going to keep Grade 4 from putting their best foot forward.

The Grade 4 students happily settled back in their school routine and pulled up their sleeves and got straight to work. We look forward to a fun and productive year! There is no stopping us now!

Every day, we begin our day with a daily math word problem. Students work on the problem independently and then we discuss the methods that were used to solve the problems. Sharing our thoughts and ideas how to solve problems is very important as we each may approach them differently.

We also use dice and decks of cards as warm up activities to get our brains working.

Games are a fun way of learning. We drew arrays to help us learn our multiplication.

 

Reading and living hstory

The Romans are coming!

We are learning about the The Roman Empire in topic.  We have learnt many things about the Romans: Why their empire grew? Where Ancient Rome was located? How they influenced our lives today? Their army & their weapons and the gladiators. In Design & Technology, we created our own shields.

The Roman Empire was among the most powerful economic, cultural, political and military forces in the world of its time. It was one of the largest empires in world history.

We learnt how the shields were made & what materials were used & how they were used in battle.
