The Optometrist visits Senior Kindergarten
He informed the children on the benefits of healthy vision. Dr Petrucci showed the children a diagram of the eye and explained the basic features.
He performed a simple eye test on some of the children then discussed his findings. Dr. Petrucci informed the children about the type of food that they need to eat to promote healthy eyes and the damage that the sun can do to their eyes.
The children had fun trying on different designs of frames and sunglasses. Dr. Petrucci went on further to explain a range of visual impairments such as coloured blindness. He then showed the children the different type of tests he would perform on the children.
Message from Dr. Petrucci at Associated Medical Practices,
‘Having your child’s eye checked is a very important part of their healthy check-up schedule. Children should have at least 3 eye tests by the age of 6. At Menzies, we are offering free eye checks for children throughout the summer vacation. Please bring your child in their check-up. Correct vision is vital in the classroom. However, children often don’t know they have an eye problem, and may be struggling in school due to uncorrected vision issues.’
