Grade 4 learnt about fractions in Term 1. They were able to explain numerators and denominators, identify fractions and equivalent fractions. They also learned about improper fractions as well as mixed numbers.
As a culminating activity, Grade 4 related fractions to real life - PIZZA! This activity would reinforce some of what they learnt as well as having fun while being creative.
Each student made a pizza which was divided into 8 pieces. The students made their pizzas with their favourite topping and wrote the fractions for each topping. They had to include a "key" to explain their fractions. The pizza boxes were donated by Bliss who provides us with hot lunches.
It was a fun learning experience!
