WOW! What an exciting morning! ISCTI hosted their 3rd annual Mini-Triathlon this day, June 25th, bringing children from Grades 1 – 8 together with one singular focus. Athletes bonded to form teams within their grades, a swimmer, cycler, and runner – all geared to win!
The youngest ones hit the pool first, completing an 18-metre dash before climbing out and tagging their cycling buddy, with them racing off for a half-mile stretch of the open road! The crowd was there to cheer them on and greet them as they returned to tag a runner, school front. Back along the roadway for their half-mile race to the finish line!
Following the little ones, the distances increased as the grades went up, with the upper school completing 54 metres in the pool, and a mile for the bike and run.
Such a lot of excitement! Parents snapped shots of their children as they raced by, and teammates gathered at the finish line, watching with anticipation to see who would round the bend first on the home stretch.
A big thank you goes out to Benneth Williams for all his hard work and dedication in making the event a huge success. ISTCI would also like to thank the Deputy Governor, the Honourable Anya Williams, for her support, as well as Jarrett Forbes, Director of Sports, for coming out. Judith Robinson, representing the Sporting Commission, and Kevin Bethel from Run For Fun, also helped to make the event successful. Thank you, Stewart Howard, Managing Director of the British Caribbean Bank, for also coming out to support ISTCI.
ISTCI would also like to send out a big thank you to their sponsors; Flamingo Pharmacy and Grace Bay Pharmacy have both supported this event through the years. Thank you to Grace Bay Pharmacy for student gift bag prizes, and to Flamingo Pharmacy for supplying our spectacular finish line arch!
ISTCI would also like to thank the Royal Turks and Caicos Police Department for their invaluable participation, making the event a safe one. PTS and Provo Water Company supplied the cones, which also lent to the organization and safety of the students. And, of course, ISTCIs PTA delightfully supplied the refreshments to all the participants and observers. Thank you ever so much!
