Our Grade 6 combined English and PSHE to write some truly wonderful poetry.
It was based on the theme ‘The Magic Door’ and the students were trying to imagine what their make-believe world would be like without COVID-19 or how it will be once this is all over.
If they could walk through a magical door in a time where quarantine and lockdown wasn’t a thing what would life be like?
What would they now see, hear and feel that they didn’t’ always appreciate before?
The children loosely based it on the Kit Wright Poem – The Magic Box and explored the poem's phrasing, word choice and the layout of the poem.
Ms. MacKenzie was impressed with what the children wrote completely independently and when they presented their poems on a Meet. She was nearly in tears! They used some very emotive language.
