In an exhilarating showcase of determination and numerical prowess, two of our middle school ladies (from Grades 8 and 9) clinched 3rd place in the 2nd Annual Jeopardy-Style Secondary Maths Competition. Being the youngest students entering the competition, this remarkable accomplishment is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the guidance of their coach and mathematics teacher, Keira Prew.
These young mathematicians have been preparing for the competition over the past term. On the day, the competition was undoubtedly challenging, involving hard-fought heats and intense rounds against students from Grade 11. With their competitors being two and three grade levels above them, our middle school ladies fearlessly faced the challenge head-on.
Guiding them every step of the way was their coach, mentor, and mathematics teacher, Keira Prew. Her dedication to nurturing their mathematical skills and fostering a culture of resilience played a key role in their journey. The pride she feels for her students is not just a reflection of their mathematical acumen but also of the supportive and empowering learning environment she cultivated.
The competition showcased not only mathematical proficiency but also the value of perseverance and teamwork. Our middle school ladies demonstrated that age is not a barrier when passion and dedication drive one's pursuit of knowledge. The experience has undoubtedly left a mark on their academic journey, instilling a sense of confidence that will undoubtedly propel them forward in their future mathematical endeavors.
As we celebrate this 3rd-place victory, we commend the young mathematicians, Meillia and Sheliyah, for their outstanding performance, reflecting their dedication to the subject but also highlighting the strength that lies in unity and shared goals. Their success serves as an inspiration to the entire school community, emphasizing the importance of hard work, resilience, and the pursuit of knowledge. We look forward to witnessing their continued growth and success in the world of mathematics and beyond. Congratulations to both ladies for their extraordinary achievement in the face of formidable competition!
