Grade 2 gets creative to celebrate TCI’s National Day of Thanks
It’s hard to believe that TCI’s National Day of Thanks is already upon us! This is a day often focused on family, food, friends, and gratitude. Grade 2 has been busy learning about fall/autumn and about Thanksgiving.
The students started the month off learning about scarecrows. We took a look at various pictures and sang songs about scarecrows. Then, the children created lovely writing pieces about what they think a scarecrow can hear, feel and see. They also designed their own scarecrows out of construction paper.
As National Day of Thanks approached, the students began discussing each child was thankful for.
The children also wrote creative pieces about how they would disguise themselves if they were turkeys being hunted. Some clever responses were they would disguise themselves as bushes, peacocks or zombies!
Grade 2 created placemats and hats for our special Thanksgiving lunch. The children enjoyed this event and they cannot wait to see what the upcoming weeks will bring!
