Working with Provo Sailing Club our ISTCI Student, Grace Reaston Brown, is gearing up for Bahamas Youth Olympic Regatta and the Round Island Race. We are always proud of and encourage extra curriculum activities and this one certainly stands out.
Grace in action!
Grace Reaston Brown has been a member of the Turks & Caicos Sailing Association’s National Youth Pico Race Team since its inception, in January 2016.
She is by far the youngest sailor on the team, at just 9 years old. She displays a unique & amazing enthusiasm for the sport, one which I have never seen in all my years coaching all over the world.
At just 9 years, the talent that she displays for sailing blows me away. When I was 9, all I wanted to do was capsize & mess around. Grace is racing, & asking questions & improving extremely fast. She is regularly winning races in the Youth Squad, besting all the other 7 kids, some of whom are as old as 14.
Aside from her talent & enthusiasm, she is an absolute diamond of a person. She is always so grateful to be sailing, and her smile brightens up my day!
Grace is currently working towards sailing in the Bahamas Youth Olympic Regatta, at the end of May, where I have no doubt she will pick up some silverware.
Another Milestone will be the Round Island Race that she will compete in, on the 25th June.
Follow the Provo Sailing Club on Facebook for updates on this talented young girl, with big big aspirations & dreams.
