Sing loud and clear for all to here at the TCI Salvation Army Kettle Drive!
The Turks and Caicos Salvation Army launched their annual Christmas Kettle Drive on Tuesday (December 1) at the IGA Gourmet supermarket.
During the launch, parents and supporters listened to the choir from The International School of the Turks and Caicos Islands who helped to get the crowd into the Christmas spirit.
The children heartily sang a number of Christmas songs from their Christmas show 'Countdown to Christmas' due to be performed at Brayton Hall on the 9th December.
The songs included 'Countdown to Christmas', 'Holly and Mistletoe', 'We're going shopping!' and 'We wish you a Merry Christmas'. Four little stars from Grade 2 sang 'Holly and Mistletoe’ on their own which the crowd greatly enjoyed. Grade 4 pupils wowed us with their solos during 'We're going shopping!.
This is the third year the International School choir has joined forces to launch the TCI Salvation Army Kettle Drive and welcome the festive season.
The launch also included an upbeat performance with tambourines from uniformed officers of the Salvation Army.
Todd Foss, advisory board chairman for the TCI Salvation Army, said there is a great deal of support for the Kettle Bell Campaign in the Turks and Caicos Islands and he welcomed the first generous people to contribute to the red Christmas kettle during the launch.
As the Christmas season draws closer, volunteers and students will stand at both of the IGA supermarkets in Providenciales holding a kettle where good Samaritans can make donations.
TCI's Salvation Army launched a countrywide charity drive to raise buckets of cash for the country’s disadvantaged children and elderly.
The Red Kettle fund raising drive will continue until Wednesday, December 23.
The TCI Salvation Army Kettle Drive fundraising event has helped the humanitarian group to gather funds for local communities across the world for more than 100 years. Within a year of setting up in the TCI, The Salvation Army has initiated a number of programmes.
These include the Clement Howell High Schools meals programme for special needs children, schools supplies for the Iris Stubbs Primary School in South Caicos, computer equipment for a new computer lab at the Helena J Robinson High School in Grand Turk, and a van pick-up service for senior citizens in North and Middle Caicos.
The group hopes to use the money raised from this campaign to purchase a mobile kitchen from the United States to provide relief during times of need.
