The Grand Opening of the Nursery School at International School

September 3rd 2015, Providenciales – The International School of the Turks and Caicos Islands is pleased to announce a modern and friendly, purpose built Nursery School; an exciting addition to their long-established Early Years Foundation Stage department. The building of the new nursery school commenced in June and the school opened its doors on Thursday 3rd September with an Open House to the community and press. The school is offering more than just a day care service, the team believes in providing a caring and educationally rich environment for those all-important early years of a child’s life. The nursery will be flexible with ‘drop off and pick up’ times. The Nursery School caters for children aged from approx. 1 year up. From 2 years their learning journey continues into the Preschool class, then Junior Kindergarten and then Senior Kindergarten. The school is taking registrations now and offering parents a chance to tour the school campus. Principal Katie Hinks says the brand new Nursery School is be a clean, safe and purpose built nursery facility with an incredible array of indoor activities and a fun, outdoor play area. "We have listened to our community and created a child's, and indeed a parent's, dream-come-true. All facilities and play equipment have been designed and chosen in order to support and enable emotional, personal and social development – independence, sharing, turn taking and self-confidence." Facilities will include an open plan playroom, air conditioning, sleepy room, indoor soft play, outdoor play area, modern utility facilities, sensory activities, educational toys and daily activities, including art, music, building projects, books, dance, outdoor exploration, puzzles and imaginative play. More about the Nursery School Ms. Evieann Barber the Nursery School Manager commented, "We are providing busy working parents with a friendly, caring and trustworthy environment for their children with a little something unique and special. We are a family team of highly experienced practitioners with a passion for learning and developing the minds, skills and personalities of children." The school currently uses an early years screener tool, ‘Tapestry” which allows the teachers to highlight and track each child’s development against the expected milestones for their age. Using a unique, secure ID & log-in parents can access their child’s daily diary and read about their progress, some of the work they have created and photos of the fun they have had. The Leeward based primary school, formerly The Ashcroft School, caters for children from 1 to 12 years so children can start their learning journey from Nursery through to Grade 6. Katie Hinks continues, "Our staff qualifications and experience means that we have a huge amount to offer the children in our care. Our curriculum has been designed to cover all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage in a creative, fun and engaging way, as well as providing a rich learning experience for the children in our care."
