Grade 5 & 6 explore fun things to do in Grand Turk!
As a fun reward for all their hard work this year Grade 5 and Grade 6 were taken on a very exciting field trip to Grand Turk. Accompanied by Mrs. Hinks, Mr. Chung, Mrs. Jimenez and Mrs. Danics the children flew off for an educational, fun and very memorable day trip! For many it was the first time they had travelled on a plane without their parents! Plus the Grade 6 class had the extra privilege of staying overnight and continuing the adventure the following day.End of School Year Trip for Grade 5 and 6
MY GRAND TURK TRIP by Destini Taylor
On June the 10th the Grade 6 and Grade 5 classes went on a trip to Grand Turk (our Nation’s Capital); it was the best trip ever! Firstly, when we arrived in Grand Turk we squashed into a taxi and drove around the beautiful streets. Firstly we saw the John Glenn Exhibit which was very informative and next we saw the lighthouse which was gorgeous! After this we went out for lunch at very nice restaurant named Mrs. Rankie. We had peas and rice, bbq chicken, ox-tail – all yummy! Afterwards we went on the ATV excursion and saw many cool things like the Bermuda Triangle, jelly fish, sea urchins and the fabulous sites of the beautiful island. Grand Turk is full of salt lakes; it has Limestone Mountains and beautiful breathtaking views! After the ATV ride we said goodbye to our wonderful tour guides and the taxi dropped Grade 5 at the airport and Grade 6 continued to the hotel for more fun! We spent the night in the Osprey Hotel which could not have been nicer! In the morning on June11th my class, Mrs. Hinks and Mrs. Danics went to a wonderful place called The Atrium for breakfast. We had omelets, bagels and fruit salad – all yummy! Then we went snorkeling at the drop-off (which is 7,000 feet feet.) with a wonderful tour guide named Justin. It was beautiful and an amazing experience! For the afternoon we went on some bikes that we had hired to our lunch spot called The Bohio which was delicious!
Should we let them out?
We then continued to Her Majesty’s Old Prison where we saw the conditions that the prisoners used to live in – they were very small and not comfortable at all!
For the afternoon we went to the Cruise Center where we shopped, swam and generally had more fun!
At around 5pm Tony (our lovely taxi driver) delivered us safely back to Jag’s McCartney Airport and we (sadly) got on the plane to bring us back home to Provo… what a wonderful way to end our time at the ISTCI – the children will not forget it!
