Inter-school Tag Rugby Championship
This November our children proudly represented their school in the Inter-school tag rugby championship hosted by the TCIRFU at the Meridian Field in the Grace Bay Village. Jamie Tait, Rugby Development Officer at TCIRFU, has been providing tag rugby lessons at Ashcroft throughout this term. The children have really enjoyed the experience to learn a new sport during their lessons. Tag rugby is a non-contact, fast-moving game that is suitable for adults or children, and for boys and girls to play together. Its safe, non-contact nature, combined with the fun and liveliness of the sport, means that tag rugby is now the RFU’s official version of the game for under-7s and under-8s.There was a great atmosphere down at the field and we would like to thank those who stepped up to referee, assist with teams, or helped out in any way. Many thanks to everyone for coming down and participating in or supporting the inter-school championships, and congratulations to the winners of the respective grades: Under 8: Enid Capron Under 11: Ianthe Pratt Under 14: British West Indies Collegiate Under 17: Clement Howell The day went smoothly and we were even treated to an exciting match of full contact seven a side rugby between Providenciales and North Caicos, who showed themselves to be full of potential in running the established Provo players close. Many thanks to Jamie Tait, Rugby Development Officer at TCIRFU.
