I have loved the positive response I have received to this weeks launch of Big Writing.
The staff room has been buzzing with excitement and the staff have all worked incredibly hard to make it as successful as possible. The response from parents about 'Talk Homework' has been very positive and it seems the children really enjoyed this too.
It was magical for me to walk around the school in the past few days and experience the first Big Write session in action. Lights were dimmed and a variety of 'special' atmospheric lighting in place, low calm music was playing and in many classes, small healthy snacks were available as 'brain breaks'. In all classes every child was 100% engaged and on task.
Talking to the children at lunch time today I received so much positive feedback:
"It was much more fun than normal writing. I like the quiet and the calm, it makes me concentrate." Jack Parlee
"It was really fun and really calm. I like the low lighting." Giselle Barrotti
"I like the talk homework because you can get more ideas and you can understand your ideas and get them better organised if you talk about them first." Mia Smith
"It was good to have lots of great words to use." Dylan Ayer
"It was fun because I like the music and the candle and the snack. I wrote loads, much more than usual." Gianna Aquino
" I used some cool ideas from a book and talking about them with my Mum and Dad. I like this writing better than normal writing." Sam Connolly
" I felt calm." Samuel French
"I felt really, really happy." Aisha Thomas
"I can't wait to see the work they have produced...as Sebastian told me... " I don't know about the others, but my story's really cool!"
Well done one and all!
