Weaving has been a part of the Turks and Caicos Islands culture for a long time. It was a way to earn a living and make items that were needed around the home. Today, the weaving of such items as hats, baskets other items are sold predominantly to the tourists that visit our beautiful islands. The Grade 4 students had the pleasure of having Ms. Elena come and teach the basics of weaving. Weaving looks a lot easier than it is. The students have a greater appreciation of the process of weaving and the end product. Each student learned how to weave and sewed a woven bookmark and decorated it. Many thanks Elena!!
