The turnout for our first PTA meeting of the school term was tremendous with over forty parents and teachers attending the meeting room at Blue Haven.
Mrs Hinks commenced the meeting explaining the role of the PTA and the goals and the values set out for the year ahead. She explained that the key to a successful PTA was open communication and she welcomed any ideas, issues and concerns.
Listening to the parents was highlighted as a priority. In fact, the recent addition of ‘French immersion’ classes was a suggestion from a parent that the school embraced. Now there are seven children involved in the scheme and directly benefiting from this suggestion.
Chairperson, Zaneta Burton, hoped that all parents were able to get involved at some point in the year and play their part in making the school thrive. The activities suggested include serving hot lunch, helping with swimming, artwork projects, fundraising, events organising, science fair, library help, reading with the children, book week, maths week and sporting events.
The PTA nominated and voted upon the new 2014/2015 task force:
