Grade 1 has been learning about 'key person' Leonardo da Vinci. The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring the different talents and careers of this famous key person. The children had so much fun attempting to recreate some of his famous pieces of work such as ‘horse and carriage’, ‘birds in flight’ and ‘water wheels’.
Who knew learning about an ancient artist /inventor could be so much fun?
The children were so eager to learn more about water wheels which they found extremely fascinating. From their research they learnt that water wheels was very important long ago as they served the purpose of providing power and energy.
We also integrated our findings with our geography lessons and used the globe to locate countries that had amazing water wheels long ago.Numeracy is a fun time for all in our class. We learn many concepts by manipulating various objects. We have enjoyed learning to measure various objects in our classroom and learning our fractions by folding colouring and eating some delicious treats even if we were only allowed ¼ or a ½ at time!
Grade 1 has had so much fun learning about coins, adding up and taking away and using the iPad to enhance our learning. We have had so much fun competing with each other and setting new records. We are the marvelous mathematicians!
