Grade 3 and the exciting National Museum Field Trip
The Museum was lovely and our hostess was so accommodating and friendly.
The students took part in a variety of activities which allowed them to go back in history. The students participated with great enthusiasm and were excellent ambassadors for the International School of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Mrs. Danics worked hard to help the students go back in time with an informative presentation on the history of the islands. She made the trip interesting and creative and we most certainly had a great time.
See the Grade 5 blog about the National Museum and also read the Museum's 'A Day At The National Museum' Blog.
Going back in time!
The children made tools just as the first inhabitants to the Turks and Caicos did. They imagined what their tools might have been used for.
The Grade 3 class also made necklaces and bracelets.
What did the children learn?
Amy said "I learned that the Lucayans they travelled on big canoes and the canoe could fit about a hundred people. My favourite part was making axes."
Rhyan said, "My favourite part was when we made the weapons and I pretended to be a Lucayan."
Sam said, "I liked the part when Rhyan and I role played and pretended we were hunting with our weapons we made."
Nia said, "I liked being a Lucayan."
Olivia said, "I learned a lot from the Museum and my favourite part was seeing the original paddle."
Grace said her favourite part was "hanging on the anchor."
