This month in Grade 4 we have been taking our topic theme of the 'Turks and Caicos Islands' into the realms of poetry and painting.

Painting with Watercolours

Grade 4 have been working on their water colour techniques.  They have learnt that the most basic watercolor technique is the flat wash. It is produced by first wetting the area of paper to be covered by the wash, then mixing sufficient pigment to easily fill the entire area. Here are their 'Turks head cactus' done in a beautiful array of water colours.  

Turks and Caicos Poetry

Grade 4 have worked extremely hard on their poetry style. They have applied what they have learn in terms of end rhyme, assonance, synonyms and rhythm in a selection of poems that really encapsulate the beauty of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Turks & Caicos Islands By Selin, Olivia  & Pavla

There are:

Coconut trees

And beautiful seas.

Dolphins and sharks

And beautiful parks.

Sandy beaches

Ocean breezes.

 

Pretty skies

And fishes to fry

Great boat cruises

No one ever loses!

Red crabs

Black bats.

 

It has beautiful skies,

That’s why we love the TCI.

It has crystal clear waters

No TV watchers

You can relax all

In the great big bay.

Is a

Beautiful by nature,

It has a beautiful features

And it has a lot of water sports

And many tennis courts

It has beautiful stars when it’s dark

And a lot of people go to the park.

 

The waters are blue.

My love for TCI is true.

There are good schools.

And crystal clear pool!

There are potcake dogs

That jump on logs!

 

A lot of people lies on the beaches,

While eating delicious peaches!

In our waters, there are sharks,

While children are at parks.

It has a beautiful sky,

And that’s why I love the TCI!
