We have enjoyed an exciting start to 2016 and our new term this month.
We have had fun using our new learning and teaching resources for Literacy and Numeracy while diving into to our new topic, ‘The Turks and Caicos Islands’.
On January 25th we celebrated a special interdisciplinary day of learning about the famous Scottish poet ‘Robert Burns’ known as ‘The Bard – Rabbie Burns’.
People all over the world, especially of Scottish decent, celebrate the life and works of Robert Burns on his birthday, the 25th of January by sharing his writings, poems and songs with a special ‘Burns Supper’ of ‘haggis, neeps and tatties!’
We were unable to make haggis in school, but we all sampled a little taste of Scotland sharing delicious shortbread.
We loved trying on Miss Blair’s kilt and decided to make our own kilts and tartan designs using our Maths knowledge of parallel and perpendicular lines, our Art and Design knowledge of contrasting and complimentary colours and our Social Studies knowledge of culture, traditional and national dress.
