In addition to this wonderful note of thanks below from our Principal, the parent community would also like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the hard working teachers of the International School of the Turks and Caicos Islands. As part of Teacher Appreciation Day at International School, on Friday 6th March, the teachers were treated to a special lunch courtesy of the PTA in the school staff room. Parent volunteers covered the lunchtime playground duties whilst the staff team luncheoned together.

We had a jam-packed week for Education Week TCI at the International School. The school was a hub of activity with many special visitors. As part of Education Week TCI, the school also participated in the Fortis TCI Science Fair and won!

In French this month we had many activities going on. We mostly learned about the environment of a tropical island, nature, the sea. In Grade 2 we learned about the weather and the seasons. The children had a special art class, from a Canadian artist. They learned special skills and tricks to draw and colour the four seasons. Everyone enjoyed the experience. We started our World Book Day with DEAR time (Drop Everything And Read), then ‘meet the authors’, assembly and finally dress up time! The younger children shared books or did book related activities throughout the day. We ended the World Book Day with a fabulous character parade – where there were children dressed up in all manner of wonderful costumes representing characters from Sleeping Beauty to Captain Underpants! Mathematics as an expression of the human mind reflects the active will, the contemplative reason, and the desire for aesthetic perfection. Its basic elements are logic and intuition, analysis and construction, generality and individuality.
