On a stunning starry night our school took the stage and delighted us with some great acting and singing.
First on the stage were the younger children with a fun nativity 'Busy, busy Bethlehem' which included lots of toe tapping songs. The children looked great in their costumes and seemed to really enjoy themselves on stage. The Preschool and Junior Kindergarten angels and animals did very well to sing and take part during the whole performance. The parents were very proud. There were lots of memorable moments including three very busy kings, Mary with her baby, a wonderful ballerina angel and a rowdy stable.
Next the older children created a wonderful atmosphere with their singing in 'Christmas Rocks!' The hard work of rehearsing clearly showed as we were treated to many delightful songs. Grade 2 acted out a great song 'All around the world is Christmas' and made everyone laugh. We have some budding actors in this class.
Grade 3 kept with their Viking theme from this term and did a traditional Norwegian light dance and song. The grand finale was holding Baby Jesus aloft and all the singers holding their torches to him.
Grade 4 put on a festive hat fashion show. Such an original performance! The personalities of the children really shone through as they cat-walked their creations on the stage. They then described their hats and explained the symbolism behind the festive items such as the candy canes, Christmas pudding, etc.
Finally Grade 5 and 6 stood together in their festive colours to sing some traditional songs like 'Christmas Calypso'. What talent! The melodies and harmonies were perfection!
Well done to the teachers and the children for all their hard work. It really showed in the performances.
