This week, in celebration of Turks and Caicos Islands, US and Canadian Thanksgiving, the PTA provided an excellent traditional Thanksgiving turkey lunch for the school.
Thanksgiving is a holiday that is all about counting our blessings and sharing a meal with loved ones. In our busy world, Thanksgiving is a time when we can focus on the truly important things in life: spending time with those we love and taking stock of all we have to be grateful for. It is a time to embrace traditions, both old and new, and to celebrate our friends and families.
The children prepared colourful and creative centre pieces for their dinner table and many made beautiful hats. These art pieces were adorned with quotes from the children explaining why they were grateful. The sentiments were truly touching.
The delicious menu included roast turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn and cranberry sauce all prepared by the chefs at the Tikki Hut.
The children were served lunch by parent volunteers and the students of Grade 6 kindly delivered meals to our preschoolers at the table. We also gratefully received delicious brownies, pumpkin, apple, and key lime desert pies.
The lunch was enjoyed by all students and teachers and everyone went back to work feeling very full up. Thanks for thanks giving everyone!
Do not forget we have a public holiday on the 28th November 2014 for the National Day of Thanksgiving! We hope you enjoy another Thanksgiving lunch or dinner with your loved ones!
