The Grade 3 class has been busy being slaves!
They took a journey back in time to Ancient Egypt where very skilled people built large pyramids. Together the class created their own pyramid where they made their own bricks and piled them high to create a 3d pyramid. They had fun building and role playing what life might have been like 5000 years ago.
Ancient Egyptian history is so old that it was old even to the people we call the ancient Greeks. It's considered one of the birthplaces of modern civilization because of its many achievements in math, science, and architecture. It was once thought that the pyramids were built by slaves. Anywhere from 20 to 50 people were needed to drag each stone into place. Building the great pyramid required over two million stones. The ancient Egyptian pyramids are truly an amazing accomplishment.
As well the Grade 3 class took part in a Big Writingproject about Egyptian times. It was fun sharing and reading their ideas with fellow classmates.
