Grade 3 have been learning about Modern Europe this term and last week they took a closer look at Spain.
The children explored the main geographical features of this country: culture and traditions, Spain's famous people and of course Spanish cuisine. Tourism is one of the main industries in Spain and what could be a better way to learn about the hospitality business than visiting a hotel?
Their field trip to the Shore Club was the highlight of the week! Grade 3 especially want to thank Patrick Van Hamme and Frits Hannenberg for organizing this amazing field trip!
On Monday morning the class were graciously welcomed at the lobby of The Shore Club where the children received their welcome drinks and were introduced to the itinerary of our visit.
They toured the exquisite grounds of the hotel, discovering details of the daily operations, stopping at the ballroom, touring the pools, visiting the kitchen and meeting the chef who was preparing Spanish influenced lunch for us.
While waiting for lunch at the Sea Grapes Restaurant, the children enjoyed the beach and had a blast building sand castles and playing tag in the water!
The Spanish influenced lunch was superb and the children all agreed it was the perfect way to learn about hospitality!
