It has been a wonderful period for grade 2. The excitement of the Christmas season kicked in since the December 1st. Early in the month our room was already looking like Christmas day, the boys and girls had so much fun decorating our Christmas tree.
A special thanks to Dr. Kendra Hall for allowing us to borrow her beautiful tree and ornaments to brighten our room. Our school fair was a hit, the children had so much f/un with all the activities they took part in. Their beautiful table top Christmas trees and ginger bread houses were on display. Students worked hard to create their houses in their own unique way. Each were very different but yet gorgeous. Thanks Sophia and Kendra.
Our Christmas production, “Children of the World” was a blast! We embraced the opportunity to integrate this theme in our topic work as it relates to the seven continents. Students had fun learning about the various Christmas traditions and customs of each of these countries.
Our country was China, the children worked extremely hard learning their lines and dance. We even learnt a few Chinese words in the process. In the end, their hard work paid off and they performed extremely well on the day of the event. They even looked like real Chinese children!
Thank you Nicola for been such a helpful and wonderful class rep, looking forward to next year. A special thanks to each and every parent of the grade 2 class, your hard work, dedication and involvement is impressive. In the upcoming year we will be studying the Turks and Caicos Islands. This will be a lot of fun which involves presentations and field trips.
To everyone have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2015 when it comes!
Thanks to Donnie’s mom, Cindy for contributing the stunning red satin and Kelly for allowing me to use her sewing machine to make these costumes. To bring it all together were the lanterns, beautifully lit. Thanks Zaneta and Kelcey.
