House Teams line up ready to compete!
Which house team will claim gold in our Primary School Maths Day?
With TCI Education Week 2016 and World Math Day coming up, the International School decided to hold a celebration of the world of maths! In our primary school, maths is of upmost importance and we try to make it appeal to all children, regardless of ability. We all know that children learn faster and retain more of the lessons taught them when it is done in a fun and easy way. We used this day to celebrate the wonderful world of mathematics and try out a range of creative ways to make maths even more fun than ever! The school was split into their house teams the Tainos, the Caribs and the Arawaks and the children took part in all manner of fun and competitive maths games. In the last hour, we decided to mix it up a bit. Each team would have 2 challenges. The relay and the cup challenge! The day ended with a nail biting quiz. We have two maths activity days planned for March. Come out and watch our children succeed.ISTCI House Team – Tainos!

Outdoor Relay Games
Our next activity, was a race to fill up a beaker with a certain amount. The teams raced to fill up their cups but only to discover that their cups has holes at the bottom of them. Not as easy as they expected it to be. But the challenge was set and the Arawaks were victorious. Great team work! The Super Cup Challenge
Each team was given 200 plastic cups. Their challenge…to work together as a team and build a structure. It wasn’t an easy task. They saw that if it didn’t have a stable foundation…it was come crumbling down. The teams had to rebuild and find the best solution. And in the end, the Tainos proved to build the best structure. The Final Quiz
The day ended with a nail biting quiz of quick fire questions. The children worked very hard and it was a close race for the points.
The three teams face the final challenge!
