Grade 4 having been studying Sound. They looked into the Inner Ear; now knowing all the key parts.
Grade 4 investigated different materials for insulation of sound - Mrs Jimenez’s handbag wasn’t great but a plastic box was amazing!
We then tested out our home-made string telephones and tested if length affected sound quality: it did, the longer the string the more easily the vibrations get lost hence reducing the quality of the sound.
Grade 4 investigated sound waves, tuning forks and much more! Sounds are super!
Chemical Reactions with Grade 5
Over the last few weeks Grade 5 have been studying Chemical and Physical Changes – looking at whether changes are reversible or irreversible.
They put their Science heads on and lit up those Bunsen Burners to see if we could get back the original Vitamin C after evaporating the water …. the answer was: NO!!!
When Vitamin C reacts with water there is a chemical reaction that takes place and CO2 is lost is lost into the air.
We had lots of fun using Bunsen Burners as always…
Classifying Grade 6
Over the last few weeks we have looked into Carl Linnaues, his binomial system of Classification and how vertebrates and invertebrates are divided into specific phyla and classes.
We went to the Conch Farm to get a detailed look at Conch, of the invertebrate Phylum: Mollusc, and discovered many cool conch facts!
See the full blog about the Conch Farm visit.
We also looked at keys and saw how they help us to identify physical features of animals to work out what an animal actually is: long hair, spiny tails, spiny leaves, leaflets…
Grade 6 even looked at IGCSE questions!
