New Pool nearing completion
Breaking New Ground With
International School of the TCI Swimming Pool
We would like to take this opportunity to announce the construction of the International School of the TCI Swimming Pool which is due to be completed by the 15th April, 2016. We are immensely proud of this new chapter for the school, as it will mean that the ISTCI will stand out as the only school with a swimming pool. In addition, this will be the largest training sized swimming pool on the island! The pool will have 4 racing lanes, will be 5 feet at max deep and 60 feet in length. There will be a shower, changing room and toilet facilities as well. All students will benefit from the swimming pool as they will become part of the ISTCI sporting curriculum. Swimming lessons are currently being planned and coordinated with a great deal of excitement from the children and staff. The pool is being paid for by Waterloo Investment Holdings Limited. Waterloo’s businesses have a long history of investing in the Turks and Caicos Islands. There will be a shower, changing room and toilet facilities.
The safety of our children, and everyone using the facility, is our primary concern so the pool will be fenced in so that children and the community will not have access to the pool unless under direct supervision. The pool will be managed by ISTCI.
Also of importance is the social integration being provided by ISTCI towards the local sporting community in that the will also serve as a training pool for others who will have access to the pool during the day and in the evenings. The pool will also potentially become the home of aquatic clubs who can offer opportunities to children and adults to learn to swim, swim train or play aquatic sports.
The pool will also potentially become the home of aquatic clubs and community programmes.
Current Head of the school Mrs. Saunders, commented that,
“the ISTCI has a commitment to producing an all-round education and challenging curriculum to our students. This launch will allow us to have a fully operating swimming pool and exciting swimming programme for this term. This facility will also help to deliver water safety messages presented in the classroom in conjunction with relevant pool activity.”
She explained what these facilities mean to the students, “Being able to use the new ISTCI swimming facilities means we can now grow our sports programme, encourage safe water play and allow the children to thrive with fun swim competitions. Swimming has so many benefits for our students, as well as the obvious physical benefits it also improves their emotional health, increases confidence and offers a sense of achievement.”

“What an amazing opportunity we have been given, we are immensely grateful to Waterloo Investment Holdings Limited. We are incredibly proud of our new pool facility and we cannot wait for it to be enjoyed, not only by our children but also members of the wider community. We want to help develop the next generation of swimmers.”
