It's June and the end of a busy and very productive school year. Whilst we are looking forward to our vacation, we are very excited about September 2015 too!
View All the International School Staff for September 2015
The International School welcomes four new Teachers from September for Grade 3, Preschool, Special Support and the new Nursery School.
All our staff are dedicated to providing pupils with quality learning opportunities and take an immense pride in their work and in doing the best job they can to achieve the highest standards for our students. We are resolute in our commitment to seeing our children develop a love of learning.
New for September 2015 is our brand new Nursery School. This modern and friendly, purpose built Nursery School is an exciting addition to our long-established Early Years Foundation Stage department. We welcome our new Nursery School Manager who has a passion for learning and developing the minds, skills and personalities of little children.
In addition to our excellent and well-qualified teaching staff we have a number of fantastic specialist teachers who work across the school supporting and enhancing children’s learning. We welcome a new Special Support Coordinator for September as we sadly say goodbye to Mrs. Danics after four years in this role.
With a passion for teaching and learning I love sharing new learning experiences, ideas and opportunities with children and young people.
From Scotland, I graduated with a degree in Primary Education from the University of Glasgow, where I also achieved my Post Graduate Diploma in Education and continue to study towards my MEd in Professional Practice.
Over the last ten years I have helped enable children of different ages and abilities overcome individual barriers to learning to achieve their fullest potential and to flourish. I believe successful learning experiences to be nurturing, child-centred and mindful of the development of the whole child.
As an enthusiastic traveller I love exploring the world’s cultural diversity and natural environments, with a particular interest in the sustainability of our oceans and marine life. I look forward to sharing my love of learning, the ocean and swimming with all of the children in the school community as well as Grade 3 this year.
I absolutely love Providenciales. My husband and I were married on the beautiful beach of Grace Bay and we purchased a home 6 years ago. I have a son who is in the United States Navy, Search and Rescue and he is currently stationed in Guam.
With over 37 years of experience as an Early Childhood Educator, the last 8 years as an Early Childhood Behavior Specialist. I completed my degree in Early Childhood Education and completed the Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant Certificate Program, University of Maryland School of Medicine.
I believe children grow according to their own inner time table and we must plan our curriculum around each individual child in order to provide the best learning environment for children. Providing children with the chance to develop all their capabilities lays the foundation for promoting a positive sense of self. I am so excited to be part of the team.
I am originally from Michigan, USA, but first came to the Turks and Caicos Islands in 1974 at nine years of age. The island immediately became a fascinating place of discovery for me. The beautiful turquoise water, white sand beaches, bush trails and historical ruins captivated me as a child and I knew that I would return one day and make this magical place my home. I have returned many times to my TCI home throughout my adult life, in between academic pursuits and other teaching experiences.
I have a MA in Human Development Specializing in Leadership in Education, College Teaching. My BA is in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Anthropology. I hold a five year certification as a Child Life Specialist and a credential as a bereavement facilitator to work with families who are experiencing grief from a loss. My love and dedication for working with children and families extends over 25 years and I am dedicated to supporting and advocating for them, respecting their diversity and unique needs.
I am so happy and excited to join this team at the International School. My hope is that we will form a strong and meaningful partnership and together give your child wonderful learning experiences that will enrich and support their growth and development.
I am from Brantford, Ontario, Canada. I have been living and teaching on the island for eighteen years. This is my seventeenth year teaching at the International School of the Turks and Caicos Islands. I received a Master’s in Education from Canisius College in Buffalo New York. My two boys attend the school, and we most certainly enjoy the community spirit that is a part of our school life.
Over the years I have had the pleasure of teaching Grades 1 to 5. I have been working as the Grade 3 teacher for several years.
Now I am embracing a new direction in my career and relish the opportunity. I will be working as a Special Support Coordinator. My role is to provide support to children requiring individual attention in areas of literacy, numeracy and E.S.L. I will work in collaboration with class teachers to determine the needs of the children and where they require assistance.
