On Friday, June 7, the International School's Tag Rugby team showcased their skills and determination at the Inter-Primary Tag Rugby Competition held at the Meridian Field in Grace Bay, Providenciales. The team, captained by the talented Sansa Modeste, included standout players Devon Modeste, Lyndon Laporte, Elly Butler, Garin Bescoby, Iliad Snider, Oisin Ryan, and Lailani Amachee, with Mr. Bennett Williams Physical Education Teacher leading as coach.
Tag rugby, a game where players must remain on their feet at all times, even when scoring a try, demands agility, strategy, and teamwork. Each team is allowed six players on the pitch, and the attacking side has six plays or tags to score or advance the ball as close to the try line as possible.
The International School team put on an impressive display, winning five out of the six games they played. Their outstanding performance secured them first place in the Plate division, a testament to their hard work and dedication.
Coach Bennett Williams expressed his pride in the team’s achievements, noting their exceptional teamwork and sportsmanship. “The students have trained diligently during our physical education classes, and their efforts truly paid off on the field,” he remarked.
The success at this competition has energized the team and the entire school community. The International School is eagerly looking forward to the next Tag Rugby event and will continue to practice and refine their skills in preparation.
Congratulations to the International School's Tag Rugby team for their remarkable performance and for making us proud!
