Last week, it was education week and Fortis held their Science and Technology Fair: involving the National Debate, the National Science Quiz, and the National Science Fair. The ISTCI team took part in the Primary Science Quiz and the Primary Science Fair, both very difficult competitions with challenging competitors. ISTCI performed fantastically in The Quiz on March 6th: teammates Shlok Ganglani from Grade 5, and Charlie Green from Grade 4, went through the first round confidently. In the final round, we faced Eliza Simons and Holy Family Academy, both of whom put up a strong fight. Ultimately, it came down to points and ISTCI was victorious, taking home the 2024 National Quiz trophy!
The next day, Thursday, March 7th, was an early start - we had to be at The Gustarvus Lightbourne again for another day of vigorous competition. Six teams entered the Primary Science Fair competition. It was lovely to see that many of the ideas at the Science Fair (for primary and high school) were environmentally themed: an idea that we as a school love to focus on. The theme of our project this year was 'Super Sargassum Solution'; we discovered that Sargassum IS our solution to producing energy as a fuel that can be burnt with a low carbon footprint and also act as an alternative to man-made fertilizer. Our team of boys: Rishaan Gopaldas, Ludovic Magnier, Shlok Ganglani, and our youngest team member - Charlie Green, all ferociously competed and during their presentation caught the eyes and ears of many. It was a long, tiring day but ultimately, again, the ISTCI was victorious and gained 1st Place in the Science Fair Project Competition.
Our team of young scientists made us all very proud this week; we thank them and their families for all of their effort and support!
