Middle School
Welcome to ISTCI Middle School
ISTCI Middle School is home to students in Grades 7, 8 and 9 (aged 11-14). These years provide the opportunities that come from being at the top of a school, to have more responsibility and independence, and to be involved in sport, leadership and expeditions as part of the leading cohort of a school.
Middle School students begin a demanding and stimulating curriculum based on the British National Curriculum. They are exposed to a wider range of subject areas and are taught by subject specialist teachers. Science diversifies into its three constituent parts - Biology, Chemistry, and Physics - and Technology becomes a key focus as the students are expected to further develop their digital skills and enhance their learning through researching, producing, and submitting work online.
As the head of the school, Middle School students are also expected to take on roles of responsibility. These include leadership positions such as House captains and leading the student council, as well as speaking in assemblies and being school ambassadors by performing community work or acting as tour guides to prospective families. All Middle School students also embark on the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, which aims to provide an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding programme of personal and team development.
As the expectations of responsibility increase, so do their opportunities. Our annual residential trips abroad provide unforgettable experiences and invaluable opportunities for personal growth. Middle School students represent the school in sports fixtures and in inter-school competitions such as debating. They are inspired by regular external speakers, and benefit from opportunities to explore and conserve our beautiful surroundings. The school is also blessed with fantastic facilities, including our modern, purpose-built classrooms.
