So much is happening in science this term. It is an exciting time as we have so many switched on and inquisitive brains at Ashcroft. Mrs. JimenezExperiments teach children practical methods and skills and also how to test hypotheses, but they are also fun and challenging and make learning come alive. For Grade 2 this term we are looking at Adaptation, the ways in which animals, plants and non living things are different! What's in the box! Grade 3 is studying Materials, their properties, their uses and how they are different. We are also finding out where they come from! The Science lab is coming alive! Grade 4 is studying Habitats by examining the adaptations of animals and plants to certain environments. Also we are researching an animal of our choice - come and check them out in the Science Lab next week - you might learn something amazing about cockroaches!! Grade 5 is learning about Changing State. The class has been examining solids, liquids and gases and evaporation. Grade 5 are now whizzes with those Bunsen Burners!!!! Safety first of course! The light of my life! Grade 6 is enjoying learning about Electricity. The class has been busy making their own cool name cards, seeing which materials conduct electricity and which are insulators. Grade 6 will soon be able to confidently make their own circuits!! What a great achievement.
