We wanted to share these photos with you as they capture the fun the children are having in pre-school this term.
Most play times our preschool teachers, Ms. Natalia and Ms. Judith, open up the big parachute in the playground. The parachute is colourful and inviting for the little ones, plus it’s a perfect way to encourage sharing games, teamwork and gets their large muscles working. The circular parachute is made of thin fabric and typically decorated in rainbow colours.
The parachute is so named because when the children move it up and down, the air gathers underneath the parachute and it floats to the ground like a parachute.
The parachute games promote gross motor skills, physical activity and lots of smiles. Reaching for the parachute not only strengthens the upper torso but it encourages cooperation and reinforces turn-taking and sharing, essential life skills! During the various games the children develop their sense of rhythm through song and movement and also they enhance their language development as they have to listen and follow the directions.
Please view the gallery below – just look at their social interaction and their smiles. What fun!
