Traction Man to the Rescue!

In Grade 2 this term we have been looking at the Story of 'Traction Man'  by Mini Grey. A modern day toy who’s owner uses his imagination to make his toy a hero. This is another story which is part of the ‘POWER OF READING’ where we look at the book over the course of the term. The children have role-played, ordered events, given their opinions and learnt about setting and characters.  

 Power Reading in Grade 2 

Below are some of the creative scenes they have written in the style of the Traction Man story. Emilia: Traction Man is in the spooky mysterious jungle, it is dark. Traction Man suddenly found a castle in the spooky dark blue water. He went it the castle…..The story will begin. Traction Man is in the castle, he is amazed he found the princess. She said “all your dreams will come true” Traction man said, “It did.” Tavare: Traction man is diving in the deep, deep Pacific Ocean in his golden swimming sui. He is looking for Scrubbing Brush.   Ella: Traction Man is in the dark cold pool! He is wearing super swimmers. He is saving Scrubbing Brush from the mysterious Sean/my Brother. (I’m Ella, the nice one!) Traction Man is going into the deep dungeon. He is wearing metal armour. He is saving Scrubbing Brush from the Dungeon Master. Traction Man is in a Dark Hat. He is wearing a shirt and shorts. He is saving Jake from the evil hats. Traction man is on the road. He is wearing rocket boots. He is saving a Potcake from being run over….”POTCAKE!!”   Jake: Traction Man is in my big, big house and he is in my bedroom and it says, Jake! Room, keep out! Traction Man is going to see the the mysterious Potcake. Traction Man is wearing mysterious clothes and a baseball hat. He is going to see the mysterious Potcake. Nathan: Traction Man is in a deep dark tank of Sharks. He is wearing a super swim suit. He is saving Scrubbing Brush.   James: Traction Man is in the foam waters of the sink wearing his diving suit. He is helping look for a lost siv on the poisonous dish cloth. Traction Man is saving the farm animals from the evil pillows. He is jumping on the pillows.   Bryeon: Traction Man is swimming in the very deep bath. Suddenly a boat almost killed him…Until next time. Traction man went to hospital. He came out again and began fighting evil. Joshua: Traction Man is in the deep ocean. He is wearing a diving suit. He is saving a gold shiny coin. Traction Man is In England. He is wearing a nice yellow rain coat. He is saving Scrubbing Brush. Tim: Traction Man is in the mysterious room in his boot. He is wearing classic clothes. He is saving Lego people and a ninja attacks him. All in a day’s work….To be continued.
