Once upon a time.... the children in Senior Kindergarten were learning about Fairy Tales. They decided that they needed a castle to play in. Lots of kind Mum's and Dad's brought in some nice big boxes and helped us to paint them. Mr Sauver did some cutting of some windows and doors and before you could say "mirror mirror" it was ready.
The SK children have been having lots of fun and developing their learning by playing in the Fairy Tale castle.
They have been:
Playing co-operatively and taking turns
Listening to others and responding
Using language to recreate roles
Using their imaginations to create new narratives
Making use of the language of stories
Telling stories with a clear beginning, middle and end
Understanding and using simple calculations (princes and princesses need to count their pennies!
Representing their thoughts and feelings through dance, music, dramatic play, arts and crafts activities
and .... having a MARVELOUS time!
