Celebrating TCI National Heritage Day 2015
at the International School
As part of the National Heritage Month celebrations, the International School of the Turks and Caicos Islands joined in and celebrated TCI National Heritage Day 2015 with an array of activities!
The children learnt and performed the National Song of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Watch the TCI Heritage Day video to see the and hear them in action.
We were very pleased to be joined by Ms. Williams and Mr. Ingham from the Department of Education.
The children rotated around a series of different activities in their house teams. The children from all Grades especially enjoyed learning the Turks and Caicos National Song – 'This Land of Ours' with our music teacher Klare Fielding.
The children also learnt about the important symbols of the Turks and Caicos and how these are relevant to our heritage and made TCI Flags.
The children had a wonderful time learning about the heritage of this beautiful country that we are fortunate enough to call our homes.
We celebrated what we had learnt, at the end of the day, with an assembly where we were joined by parents.
Also as part of the National Heritage Month celebrations the Department of Education allocated this week to highlight the importance of Early Childhood Education and has called it 'The Week of the Young Child'.
To highlight the outstanding work being done in our Early Years Foundation Stage we have had a wonderful week, as usual, celebrating the importance we put on this crucial stage in children’s learning and development.
Our 'Messy Morning' saw the children from Preschool, Junior Kindergarten and Senior Kindergarten learn in a practical and hands on way in our beautiful and well-appointed outdoor playground.
