Our Team
Welcome to The International School of the Turks and Caicos Islands! I am the Grade 2 Teacher and I will be entering my 8th year at ISTCI. I consider myself a passionate and dedicated educator who has always had a love for teaching. Starting from my early years in Brooklyn, New York, when I taught my younger sister using a metal patio door as a chalkboard, to volunteering and tutoring at several schools during my high school years in Coral Springs, Florida, teaching has consistently been my calling.
After earning a Bachelor of Education (Hons.) degree in Elementary Education (K-6) from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida, I continued to pursue my passion for education by obtaining diplomas in Photoshop, Graphic Design, and Coding for Kids. In 2020, I became Level 1 Google for Education certified and received a certificate in Hospitality and Tourism Management from my Alma Mater, FAU. I am currently enrolled in Computer Science and Leadership courses and hope to gain certifications by December 2023.
During the span of the last 13 years, I've had the incredible opportunity to teach in diverse educational settings across various parts of the world. I have taught in Turks and Caicos, South Korea, and in the United States.
My teaching philosophy is based on the belief that every student has the potential to learn and grow, and that it is my responsibility to create an environment that fosters this development. I believe that teaching is not just about imparting knowledge, but also about inspiring and guiding students to become lifelong learners.
One of the key tenets of my philosophy is the importance of creating a safe and inclusive learning environment. I believe that students learn best when they feel valued and respected and that it is essential to foster a sense of community within the classroom by actively promoting diversity and inclusivity, and creating a space where every student feels seen and heard.
In my spare time, I enjoy creating memories with my family, traveling, photography, and reading.
