Senior Kindergarten have had an exciting start to the new school year and are thoroughly enjoying our new topic ‘Journey’. We have made a plane in our classroom and the children have been reinforcing and extending their learning by working and playing in it. They have been using writing in their play as they fill Travel Agency forms, drawing and writing what they have seen on their journeys through different habitats. They have been furthering their knowledge as they discuss where they would like to journey to on their magic carpets. Each child packed a suitcase for their holidays, writing lists, names and addresses and postcards describing places they have visited. We used language to imagine and recreate roles and experiences in play situations, as well as use our phonic knowledge to write words in ways, which match our spoken sounds. Rania and Auren did a fantastic job making sure that everyone got on a plane in a timely manner and that everyone went through security checkpoint. Anette, Mia and Brock were in charge of the food catering, Danielle and Gabriella did a fabulous job at being flight attendants. Mekhi and Sylvie, flew to Paris first class, even though the tickets were very expensive. Our pilots, Mia and Jewel, made sure that the passengers got to their destinations on time. Matt and Lathaeja were in charge of the travel agency and their phone didn’t stop ringing. We’ll keep you posted with our next adventures!
