Using this information Grade 3 working together created an amazing Viking ship display in their classroom. Made entirely from cork, the boat displayed a dragons head and gold & silver shields. Each student made a Viking version of themselves and even added plaited hair. Why were the Vikings so important to our history?
The children have learnt that the Vikings had a significant influence on our culture, geography and modern languages. The Vikings were masters of trade and seafaring. They had large armies, well equipped and their long ships were pivotal to their expansion. The children have studied their gods, languages, tools and tracked their progress across the seas.
