In Literacy, Grade 6 have been reading War Horse – a fabulous novel by Michael Morpurgo, and even written playscripts and acted it out in front of Mrs Jimenez. Grade 6 have enjoyed reading War Horse – a challenging but moving story written in the eyes of Joey.
Within this section of fictional studies we have focused on punctuation such as speech marks, colons, semi colons, multiple commas in a sentence and how to identify clauses. Our Big Writing has explored the experience of being in battle - Grade 6 are producing some great work!
War Horse is a children's novel by Michael Morpurgo. It was first published in Great Britain by Kaye & Ward in 1982.
The story recounts the experiences of Joey, a horse purchased by the Army for service in World War I France and the attempts of young Albert, his previous owner, to bring him safely home.
It formed the basis of both an award winning play (2007) and an acclaimed film (2011).
