Donate, Support and Volunteer!
We are currently redeveloping the International School Library and ask the community to donate books to our ever growing educational resource.
Since I have taken on the job of the library in September 2015 I have been trying to see what kids are reading and would love to see even more books for our older children to read.
This past month with help from the staff team we have been going through our Junior Fiction books and have cleared many unusable books and there is still more to be sorted through.
Whilst we have a large well stocked library, there are books in the library that have been there since the beginning of the International School of the West Indies, about 25-30 years ago.
How can I help the International School library?
We have a donation box in the office or you can donate to the main school office. Ways to help:- Donate old (good condition) books from home
- Ask visiting friends and family members to bring and donate books when they visit
- Buy new books to donate
- Donate funds to buy new books
- Volunteer your time to help in the library
- Buy books from our Scholastic programme
My job in the International School library is to encourage children to read, so I would like to have books in many genre’s for all the different age groups. Many of our titles are also limited to mainly UK authors, and there are quite a few titles that I would like to add that are published in Canada or US.
Our Scholastic programme is helping our young readers, but we still need more help. The new ones that I have ordered through our free points from the Scholastic programme, fly off the shelf, and I have kids asking for the new books.
